Tamara Oberholster is a freelance journalist who writes about everything from taxidermy to wireless telemetry, but whose ultimate passion is travel.

Whether it’s camping in a dusty tent in the desert or sipping champagne in a jacuzzi under the stars, Tamara Oberholster delights in new experiences. She grabs every chance to see more of the world, both close to home in Johannesburg, and when her meagre journalism earnings allow it, further afield.

She’s happiest tasting new foods, photographing bright colourful things and feeding stray cats wherever she may find them. Her tolerant husband has resigned himself to getting up at odd hours to help her cart around photography equipment, and to lots of cat hair.

When she’s not cultivating her ever-growing bucket list, she provides various writing and editing services through her company, Word Chef
