In the wake of COVID-19, the team at Tau Game Lodge in the Madikwe Reserve bordering Botswana, has adopted additional measures to provide guests with peace of mind. Travel flexibility is key.

According to Renate Oostmeijer, General Manager of the South African team these include:

  • Deep cleaning rooms meticulously before each guest arrival
  • Allowing a maximum of six people per game drive vehicle.  Private vehicles optional at an additional fee.
  • Meals served a-la-carte with appropriately spaced tables.

“Tau is suitable as a medium-sized meeting venue for up to 30 delegates. Corporates who have had to work remotely might be in dire need of a well-deserved breather in nature, once current restrictions are relaxed, and normalcy prevails.

“We encourage our guests to take advantage of the various discounted Pay Now & Travel Later Flexi vouchers” says Renate. “For those who had their travel plans cancelled due to Covid19, we offer the new prepaid voucher for flexible dates and the option to postpone thanks to constantly changing updates from the authorities.”

The live web camera at the iconic Tau waterhole serves as a reminder that the natural world just continues its flow. Daily sightings include African wild dog, herds of elephant and buffalo, lion, the entire spectrum of antelope, a plethora of birdlife, stealthily observed by the resident crocodiles. Wonderful as this armchair travel is, nothing beats actually being in the bush .observing man and beat from a safe and socially acceptable distance, of course…
