Arisen from the ashes
Having been closed since February, when a kitchen fire destroyed the main section of the boutique hotel on Chapman’s Peak Drive, Tintswalo Atlantic re-opened for business in October with public areas and some guest suites having been rebuilt in just six months
Coinciding with the re-launch, room rates including full breakfast now start at R9600 (high season) and R11500 (peak season 15 December to 15 January). Says CEO, Lisa Goosen: ‘With tragedy comes opportunity and we have fine-tuned our offering. We will highlight Tintswalo Atlantic’s luxury, privacy, and seclusion by presenting guests with a bespoke private lodge experience. Family owned and managed, Tintswalo Atlantic is a magical, emotive place. The sensation of love, gratitude and peace is what we’d like for our guests to experience when they stay with us.’
Non-resident guests will be accommodated once a week on Wednesdays, where a limited number of casual diners are welcome by prior reservation and subject to availability. Moving away from traditional fine dining, Tintswalo diners can expect fresh, seasonal cuisine. Seaside fare is served in a relaxed environment, complemented by an award-winning wine list. The three-course lunch is offered at R960 per person. Resident guests can book for lunch and dinner daily.
A maximum of 24 resident guests are accommodated at Tintswalo Atlantic in 10 individually designed Islands Suites and a two-bedroom Villa. Suites are named after varous islands including Madagascar, Zanzibar, Java, Corsica, Sicily, and Robben Island.
All suites have a lounge area with a fireplace, a tea station with an espresso machine, and a private deck overlooking the ocean and the pebbled beach below. Spacious en-suite bathrooms also have sea views and walk-in showers, his-and-hers basins and huge Victorian baths with a selection of pampering bath products.
Also included in the rate is complimentary wi-fi and the signature Sundowner Cocktail of the Day with a selection of canapés. Room service, in-room massages, transfers, and a range of sightseeing excursions are available too.
Tintswalo Atlantic is lauded as one of Cape Town’s best sunset spots. A temperature-controlled plunge pool with a sundeck and loungers overlook the Atlantic Ocean. Stylish lounge areas with sea views are set around fireplaces. At mealtimes guests are either seated on the wooden deck at the shoreline, or in the elegant dining room with its open kitchen.
